Natural Flooring

Natural flooring is a practical, contemporary and aesthetically pleasing alternative to carpet. All of the products in this section are 100% natural and made from renewable sources, making them environmentally friendly

Taking care of your new natural floor isn’t as difficult as you may think -all of the coverings can be vacuumed with an ordinary vacuum cleaner*. If you wish, a stain treatment can be applied before fitting, giving you peace of mind when it comes to everyday little accidents. The treatment, called Intec©, is specially formulated for use on natural flooring and it works by coating each fibre with a Polymer Shield, providing resistance to spills and dirt. What’s more, it doesn’t affect the colour or texture in any way. (Jute comes with Intec© as standard at no extra cost)
(You should never use wet cleaning methods on natural floors (i.e. – Steam cleaning, shampoos) as the fibres are prone to shrinkage when wet.)

We provide an enormous range of products from Crucial Trading and Kersaint Cobb, allowing you to see and feel the product before you purchase it.

Seagrass

Seagrass starts its life in Vietnam, where it is grown in paddy fields flooded with sea water. It is then sent to China, where it is spun and woven into a strong and resilient floor covering. Because of its slightly waxy finish, Seagrass is naturally stain resistant.
Seagrass is a product that will really ‘live’ in your home. It starts off with a natural green hue, but will age over time, giving you a beautiful sandy shade. This process is accompanied by the scent of grass drying in the sun – a wonderful benefit to having a truly natural floor.
In our showroom, we have fitted two different weaves of Seagrass for you to experience; these are in a herringbone and basketweave design.

Coir

Coir is made from the husk of the coconut shell, it is soaked, pounded, combed, dried and woven – but even after that process it is still one of the most unprocessed looking products that we sell.
It is the first product that you come into contact with when you step inside our showroom, as it is commonly used as entrance matting. It can, however, be used in all areas of the home in many different designs, giving you a stunning and extremely hardwearing floor. Kersaint Cobb have recently launched their ‘Fruit n Fibre’ range – a contemporary mix of Coir, Pineapple & Sisal, and we have samples here in-store for you to experience.

Jute

Jute is the finest natural floor covering available. The slender fibres, sourced from the most humid parts of Bangladesh & India, create an almost silky feel. The fibres are taken from the centre of the stalk and laid out in the sun to dry before being handspun. It will give you a beautiful, delicate looking bedroom floor and you can relax in the knowledge that it is 100% recyclable & biodegradable.

Sisal

Sisal really is the most versatile of natural floors. Grown in Africa & South America, the leaves of the Agave Sisalana plant are crushed and soaked, extracting the fibres which are then spun into different densities of yarn. These fibres effortlessly take on Vegetable dyes, providing a beautiful colour palette – from soft browns and silvers to bold blues and even scarlet! There are many designs where subtle colours are blended together, giving a contemporary and stylish look, suitable for all areas of the home.

Paper & Bamboo

Made by Crucial Trading, these products really will provide the ‘wow’ factor!
With paper flooring, strips of paper are twisted to create a surprisingly strong yarn; this is then woven into probably the most contemporary flooring available, or into a statement rug. Its structured weave gives a very clean finish, without taking away from the natural look.
Bamboo is recommended for rugs, rather than whole floors. Its stunning texture will provide you with a bold statement piece that will last for years to come.

Wool

If you want to create a warm and cosy feeling in your home, then there really is no substitute for wool. The blends used are sourced from all over the world, from Europe, to India and New Zealand.
There will be something in this collection to suit every area of your home. Whether you want a practical and plain carpet for a hallway, a striped runner for the stairs or a carpet created with hundreds of textural little balls for the bedroom, you will not be disappointed with the selection that we have in-store.
